The man who founded Ferrari was named Enzo Ferrari. He started the Scuderia Ferrari, the first ever name of Ferrari, in Modena, Italy in 1929 as an amateur driver sponsorship. With this Sponsorship, he helped train and developed drivers to race on an Alfa Romeo model sports car. He continued to run the sponsorship until he was hired by Alfa Romeo in 1938 to head the motor racing division.

Enzo Ferrari excelled in managing the division in Alfa Romeo and developed new technologies in manufacturing cars. In the 1940′s the Fascist government of Benito Mussolini took over Italy. This brought the Alfa Romeo into the hands of the Italian government in order to further support the Axis powers. It was never the matter for Enzo since his division was small and was not affected by the change of control.

Enzo’s contract with Alfa Romeo has prohibited him to race in competitions for a four-year duration. It was during that this time that Scuderia Ferrari changed its name to Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari. This newly named Ferrari manufacturing was now a producer of numerous machine tools and airplane accessories. It was also during this time, that the first ever Ferrari was manufactured, the Tipo 815. However, it was the period of non-competition.

The 1947 125 S was the first ever road car Ferrari that was displayed to the public. It was powered by the then new 1.5L V12 engine. From then on, he developed more cars. The public loved Enzo’s creations because it is aesthetic quality and fact engines. It was virtually an immediate success.

Enzo Ferrari was displeased by the fact that he was selling his automobiles. Even as the Ferrari brand cars grew and gained excellence in the world of automobiles. He was disappointed by the fact that most of his buyers only purchased the cars only for the prestige and not the overall performance.

Since then Ferrari continued to grow each year. It had never slowed down until today. Today, it garners about 1,688 Euros in annual revenues and employs almost 3,000 people every year.
